The same day CHIPPED launched on early access I was reached out to by Video Game Cream which is a YouTube channel that brings you everything about the coolest indie games of the moment.
I was so excited for someone taking interest in CHIPPED, after sending them the key they quickly got to playing the game and making a video. I then received the link and watched it immediately, so amazing to see!
I am very grateful for Video Game Cream's input and being able to watch CHIPPED gameplay from a seasoned gamer, this has given me so much context as to what CHIPPED's updates really need.
SHOOTING: I noticed that players may not know if they need a weapon to shoot things, since you can get them early on when you walk over the lights, I assumed this would be very fast to get used to.
I was wrong, you can easily miss these and not interact with them at all, although you do not need weapons to pass the game they do help a lot throughout your journey on the motherboard.
CHEST INTERACTIONS: One thing that stood out the most was the glitchy rar chests, I know exactly why this happens, it's an overlapped trigger box so when you activate it, it might activate the chest right next to it instead, the fix will come with the next update.
TUTORIAL: There is virtually no guides or helpful hints to get you ahead, although this is on purpose it makes me wonder if there should more indications within the world to tell you what to do or where to go. In the menu you can see the controls and remap them as well, but this might not be the best option for new players learning how to survive the motherboard world.
MELEE: The player kept trying to destroy things with melee, but there are many actors within the game that you need to shoot at to destroy, this was not readily available information, so it gave me ideas to indicate this, as some things are destroyed with bombs and others require a weapon.
FINAL NOTES: The final notes I took away from watching is that if you never interact with the guide or pull it up by holding the tab key you probably will never know that there are many different actions you can take, for example, you can slide, crouch jump for a higher jump, place viruses, fly, etc.
In conclusion I am excited for the future of CHIPPED and extremely grateful for the valuable input that Video Game Cream has provided, being able to watch the gameplay video from a seasoned gamer is always welcome and encouraged, I do hope they eventually pass the entire game!
